BRAVES COMPLETE SWEEP OF PHILLIES, 5-2

A year after a 9-0 record in Atlanta helped give Philadelphia momentum for its World Series championship run, three straight losses at Turner Field left the Phillies feeling flawed. Matt Diaz (above) drove in the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning double and the Braves beat Philadelphia 5-2 on Thursday night to complete their first home sweep of the Phillies in four years.

CHURCH LEADS METS PAST PIRATES IN 10, 9-8

Ryan Church (above) singled in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning, and the New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-8 after overcoming a five-run deficit and then wasting a ninth-inning
lead. Adam LaRoche hit a tying two-run homer in the ninth before the Mets rebounded to win the makeup of a June 3 rainout.
