LUNDQVIST TAKES RANGERS BACK INTO FIRST, 4-0

The number on Henrik Lundqvist's (above) stat line that jumped out to the New York Rangers goalie wasn't the 19 in the win column but the zero under shutouts. Never did the numbers 20 and 1 go as well together as they did Monday night. Lundqvist bounced back from a slump and a bout with a stomach bug, sending the Rangers to a 4-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins that stopped a slide and lifted New York back into first place in the Atlantic Division.

RAYS SIGN EX-PHILLIE BURRELL TO 2-YEAR DEAL

The Rays, filling their need for a power hitter, have agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract with free-agent Pat Burrell. The former Phillie will serve as the team's designated hitter. The Rays, nearing their payroll limit, could use some combination of Ben Zobrist, Gabe Gross and Fernando Perez in right field.
